What Is Facial Toner?

Facial toner is an essential but often overlooked part of a skincare routine. Its purpose is to balance the pH levels of your skin after cleansing, remove any remaining dirt and oil, and prepare your skin for further treatments, like moisturizer or serum. Toners often contain ingredients such as glycolic acid, witch hazel, or salicylic acid that help to exfoliate the skin and improve its texture.

Incorporating facial toner into your skincare routine is simple and can be done in just a few steps. After cleansing, apply a small amount of toner to a cotton pad and gently swipe it over your face, avoiding your eyes. Follow up with your favorite moisturizer or serum. By using facial toner regularly, your skin will be healthier and more radiant, helping you to look and feel your best.

Benefits of Using Facial Toner

Using facial toner regularly can help to unclog pores, prevent breakouts, and improve the overall appearance of your skin. It can also help to reduce the visibility of pores and fine lines, giving your skin a smoother appearance. Additionally, toners can help to improve the effectiveness of other skincare products by allowing them to penetrate deeper into your skin.

Why Make Apple Cider Vinegar Facial Toner?

Apple cider vinegar (ACV) has become increasingly popular as a natural home remedy for a range of health and beauty issues, including acne-prone skin. One of the most effective ways to use ACV is as a facial toner. Here are three reasons why you should consider incorporating apple cider vinegar into your skincare routine:

First, apple cider vinegar is a natural astringent, which means it helps to tighten and firm your skin. This is because it contains alpha-hydroxy acids, which work to exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells, revealing fresher, smoother skin. As a result, ACV can help to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and dark spots on the skin, giving you a more radiant complexion.

Secondly, ACV has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which can be beneficial for those with acne-prone skin. It can help to reduce the bacteria that cause acne and also soothe redness and inflammation. Additionally, apple cider vinegar can help to balance the pH levels of your skin, which is important for maintaining healthy skin and preventing breakouts.

Finally, using apple cider vinegar in facial toner is an affordable and natural alternative to expensive skincare products. It is easy to make at home, and you can customize the strength of the toner to suit your skin type.

Overall, by incorporating ACV into your skincare routine, you can benefit from its natural properties and achieve healthier, clearer, and more radiant skin.

Ratios by Skin Type

  • Sensitive Skin = 1:4 ratio of ACV to water = .8 oz ACV and 3.2 oz water for this recipe
  • Normal or Dry Skin = 1:2 ratio of ACV to water = 1.3 oz ACV and 2.6 oz water for this recipe
  • Oily Skin = 1:1 ratio of ACV to water = 2 oz each of ACV and water for this recipe

If you’re not sure what mix will be best for your skin, start with a 1:4 ratio of apple cider vinegar to water. You can gradually increase it up to 1:1 as needed.

Instructions

  1. Add the appropriate amount of apple cider vinegar for your skin type to your glass bottle. Then, fill it almost to the top with water, leaving enough room to shake the bottle and mix up the face toner.
  2. After washing your face, pour a small amount of the apple cider vinegar facial toner onto a face pad and gently wipe it over your face. Allow it to dry, then continue with the next step of your skincare routine, like applying moisturizer or serum.
  3. Notice how your skin reacts to the toner and adjust the ratio of apple cider vinegar to distilled water accordingly.
